Instead of mowing grass - that took a constant upkeep in this NC clay, we needed to find something else to cover the natural area of our front yard. The rubber mulch decision for the front yard now leaves us with very little grass and very little maintenance. For years we paid for pine needles delivered and spread twice per year. It became very expensive. I was concerned about blowing leaves off the rubber mulch but no problem. The leaves blew off easily and the rubber mulch stayed in place. Also we have a small creek running thru the front yard and no problem with the water taking rubber mulch with it.
